The Higher School of Architecture of Málaga and Financiera y Minera S.A., through the Chair of Innovative Construction Materials (CIMC) announce the I International Ideas Competition for architects and students of architecture in their graduation project.
The main aim of this competition is to promote architects and young architects' capacity to think about the needs of an urban or architectonic problem and to offer original solutions, in order to develop new ideas or concepts that will require new technic and technological goals, and keep an ongoing process.
The subject of this I International Ideas Competition is to design a project in order to redefine the seafront of the current Ciudad de Melilla Promenade in Málaga.
During the last decades, the city of Málaga has developed several urban actions of high importance resulting in the creation of new pedestrian walks and public spaces in detriment of the road traffic. These urban actions are not only developed according to mobility factors, as they have generated new social, cultural, and commercial relationships; for the benefit of their inhabitants and the tourism of the city.
In a similar conceptual operation, the Ciudad de Melilla Promenade is seen as a space full of opportunities in order to create some public areas through the relocation of on surface car parks. The new designed public space is expected to longitudinally generate a strong pedestrian axis that connects Muelle 1, the Lighthouse, and Pablo Ruiz Picasso Promenade; and transversely improve the accessibility of the inhabitants and visitors to the beach.
The redefinition of the seafront's project has to be done with any of the innovative products offered by Financiera y Minera S.A.
