Bee Breeders Competitions, in collaborazione con il Comune di Cesis in Lettonia e Mango Vinyl, lancia un nuovo concorso di architettura per trasformare un edificio industriale abbandonato in un centro polifunzionale in grado di ospitare una fabbrica di vinile, un'area per lo shopping, la caffetteria, un'area espositiva, e uno spazio di co-working.
I partecipanti sono invitati a mantenere la struttura dell'edificio esistente, ma possono apportare modifiche se in sintonia con la proposta progettuale generale considerando che la trasformazione della fabbrica è una prima tappa di un processo di riqualificazione dell'intera area in un parco creativo. Un altro degli obiettivi del concorso è di riuscire ad attirare l'interesse e gli investimenti di altri soggetti.
Il primo, secondo e terzo classificato riceveranno rispettivamente un premio di 3.000, 1500 e 500 dollari.
The world is witnessing resurgence in the popularity of vinyl records. The vinyl renaissance reminds us that records, unlike downloaded digital music files, are tangible objects that can be collected and experienced in a more tangible and personal way. In 2014, some 900,000 vinyl albums were sold in the UK alone, indicating that digital is not the only way to listen to music.
Bee Breeders, in cooperation with Cesis Municipality and Mango Vinyl, recognise the importance of vinyl with the Mango Vinyl Hub architecture competition. In this open competition, participants are invited to submit their visions for a multipurpose building to be located in Cesis, Latvia. Participants are asked to present a vision for a structure that would accommodate the following functions: a vinyl factory, vinyl store, café, exhibition area, and a co-working space, as well as additional functions that would be defined by the participants themselves.
The location for the proposed complex is an abandoned tin foil factory. Participants are recommended to retain the existing building structure; however, changes can be made if they fit in with their design proposal. The building should be considered as the first stage in redeveloping the block by transforming it into a creative park, acting as an anchor to draw interest and investment from other parties. In this regard, participants are also tasked with considering the Mango Vinyl Hub in a wider context - proposing ideas and visions for the potential further development of the block in the future. Cesis Municipality will award "The Big Picture" award to the best area development proposal.
ELIGIBILITY
Competition is open to all. No professional qualification is required. Design proposals can be developed individually or by teams (4 team members maximum).
REGISTRATION
In order to participate in the Competition, entrants must register through the Bee Breeders registration panel as Students, Enthusiasts and Companies no later than April 19, 2017. Registration fees are the following:

- Enthusiasts and companies: US $120
- Students: US $100 - Last Minute Registration
- Enthusiasts and companies: US $140
- Students: US $120
SUBMISSION
All submissions must be uploaded via the upload panel at www.stonebarnmeditationcamp.beebreeders.com no later than May 3, 2017.
PRIZES
3 winning proposals and 6 honourable mentions will be selected. Bee Breeders will award a total of US $6,000 in prize money to competition winners as follows:

US $3,000 + Publications + Certificate of Achievement - 2ND PRIZE
US $1,500 + Publications + Certificate of Achievement - 3RD PRIZE
US $500 + Publications + Certificate of Achievement - BB STUDENT AWARD
US $500 + Publications + Certificate of Achievement - THE BIG PICTURE AWARD
US $500 + Publications + Certificate of Achievement - 6 HONOURABLE MENTIONS
