Who and what will define the future of our cities?
What is the future of our cities and what role do architects and urban designers play in this?
The future of the city will be defined by various forces – politics and economics, but also migration and tourism, for example. These forces are the focus of the third International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR).
The 3rd IABR, which opens on 24 May 2007, is entitled POWER – Producing the Contemporary City. In the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, two major exhibitions, Visionary Power and The New Dutch City offer visitors a glimpse of the future. The curator of the biennale on this occasion is the Rotterdam-based Berlage Institute, the internationally renowned post-doctoral academic institute for architects and urban designers.
The IABR is a biennial event that brings together architects and urban designers from all over the world. The Rotterdam biennale not only exhibits, but also investigates themes of current relevance and thereby provides a platform for a new generation of architects.
