AIA Honor Awards 2006

I nomi delle opere a cui saranno conferiti gli AIA Honor Awards per il 2006 sono stati resi noti il 13 gennaio - come chiarisce il sito ufficiale dell'American Institute of Architects, ma l'effettiva consegna dei premi avverrà nel prossimo mese di giugno, durante la "National Convention and Design Exposition", anch'essa patrocinata dall'AIA, in programma a Los Angeles.

Le scelte della giuria riflettono la varietà dei progetti sottoposti a  valutazione (680, di cui più di 400 nella sola sezione Architettura).

In ognuna delle categorie di riferimento sono state individuate opere in grado di esprimere la "eccellenza": per l'architettura ha inciso particolarmente, al di là delle differenti funzioni e destinazioni d'uso, il livello di integrazione con il contesto di appartenenza; i progetti premiati nella categoria degli interni sono contraddistinti dall'approccio creativo e dalla capacità di reinventare le associazioni di materiali; infine, per le soluzioni di urban design, sono risultati degni del riconoscimento sia gli interventi attuati a ridosso di centri storici e caratterizzati dall'equilibrio tra spazi aperti e costruiti, sia le visioni rivolte agli sviluppi futuri della progettazione urbana.
